Review: Konnet Power Pyramid (Controller Charging Station)

Hello All! Today I’ve got another Xbox360 accessory review for you, this one though is for your controllers. Buying the charge and play kits can be expensive, and it’s cheaper to just buy a battery by itself as we know. The problem here is that you’ll need at least one charging cable, and then if you’ve got four controllers you have to share that cable with all of them so charging can take quite a while.

Konnet has sent me over the Power Pyramid Xbox360 Controller Charging Station for review today. The Power Pyramid can charge four controllers at one time, and comes with a power supply so you don’t have to worry about USB ports. It’s a product that looks good, and works well, it’s great accompaniment to your Xbox360…

The Review:

The Konnet Power Pyramid comes in a box with colors that should be familiar to every Xbox owner. Basic specs and features are listed on the box as well.

Inside we find a user manual and a sort of half box made of plastic with the power Pyramid in it and the power supply.

The Power Pyramid is nice looking, it has mirrors on two of the sides and four clear controller holders, two on each side. In the center of each holder is the connection that connects to your controller. Overall it seems well made, yes it’s plastic, but it feels sturdy.

On the bottom you’ll find four rubber feet and the power port to hook up the AC adapter.

Using it is very easy, find somewhere to put it, plug it in then add your controllers.

Here’s four controllers attached to the Power Pyramid before I plugged it in. You can see they are sort of off center from each other with just enough room to fit each controller in. The stand is not only a charger but it’s also a place to put your controllers when you’re not using them.

Power it up and the top of the pyramid lights up blue to let you know you’ve got power. Then there are LEDs in each controller bracket as well that light up red for charging and then blue when the charging is complete.

That’s it there’s not much to this product other than that. It seems to charge the controllers faster than the standard USB connection, but not that much faster.

One the features listed is the fact that you can use the Power Pyramid as a stand or place to store your controllers when not in use, but they’ll always be charging then, is that a good thing or bad thing?  There’s no power switch on it, personally I’d like to be able to turn the power off if i wanted to with a switch, but you’ve got to unplug it if you want to turn the power off to the charger.

Conclusion:

The Konnet Power Pyramid is really a great product. I for one have only one charging cable, but yet four controller that use rechargeable batteries so I find myself sometimes switching back to regular batteries at times. The Power Pyramid allows you to charge four controllers at once quickly and easily and in style.
