Stuart Black, the evil genius behind 2006′s Black, is working with Codemasters on what he claims will be a revolutionary first-person shooter called Bodycount. Featuring a completely destructible environment with modern weaponry, Bodycount is tentative for late 2010.
Black boasts, “There’s room for a refresh of the shooter experience. If GRID was all about the purity of racing, then everything in Bodycount is absolutely centred on the bullet and its impact on the world. Our shredding tech enables us to create a different kind of gameplay, where players and AI can’t hide behind indestructible cover and rely on whack-a-mole mechanics. Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun.”
We’ve heard this promise many times over the years with little delivery. Still, if anyone can pull off a meaningful revamp of the fps genre, this is probably this team. We’ll keep you updated.
