Josh Olin of Treyarch has officially put to rest the rumor that COD: Black Ops will have a pay to play online subscription model.  So for those of you fearing that Activision’s CEO, Bobby Kotick, would be implementing his very publicized desire for such a plan, you can now rest easy.

No, you will not have to ‘Pay to Play’ #CODBlackOps Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed.

- Josh Olin

Robert Bowling has also reiterated that this is just a rumor and nothing more.

Modern Warfare 2 subscription plan rumors going around. For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they.

I think that this is rubbish because on xbox live you already have to pay to get your on-line account so this would put a lot of players off the game.

Sorry but this is not true.

Haven't purchased either of the map packs, overpriced. Pay to play is stupid anyways, people will all migrate over to other FPS games with free multiplayer. It would kill their sales.
