The Review:
Well don’t laugh at the skin I picked, I already have a nice Gears of War 2 skin on my Xbox 360. I learned very quickly that I cannot share my Xbox with my children so I got one for them, so the skin I got from MusicSkins is for their Xbox and not mine. They’re young kids so I thought this would work for them. It’s Skelanimals, I never head of them until recently actually, but apparently they’re very popular with young kids and even grown ups… The Skelanimals like is for both boys and girls, it’s full or toys, accessories and clothing.
MusicSkins has literally hundreds of skins to pick from, once you find a design you like then you just pick which device you have and order it, very simple.
The Xbox360 skin comes on three sheets, the front the back and then a sheet with the hard drive skin and the front panel skin.
Here’s a closer look at them:
Yes, apparently dead animals need love too!
The skins are actually made from 3M Controltac:
Here’s a quote from the 3M site pertaining to what Controltac is:
“Durable, dimensionally stable, vinyl film with positionable, pressure-activated adhesive (permanent, changeable or removable) that allows film to be repositioned on the application surface during installation.”
I hadn’t realized just how dirty my kids had made their Xbox, the thing is disgusting. The first thing you’ll need to do is clean it, i just paper towel and alcohol to clean with.
Their hard drive was dirty as well, how I don’t know.
Since I had the hard drive I figured that was a good place to start, the skin for it is actually two pieces the top and the front. This was easy to install.
Then moving on to the actual Xbox360, the skins are different for the front and back or top and bottom, however you look at it. There are cut outs for the vents and rubber feet. I thought it would be easy to get these on, but it wasn’t, it lines up but not perfectly, but it’s very close. It took me several tries to get the sides on correctly, or at least as good as I wanted them on. The front bezel was even harder, it took a lot lot longer as I wanted it to line up with all of the cut outs and I wanted them centered.
Here it is from the side view:
Then here is is standing up:
Then here’s the front bezel:
I like it honestly, it provides protection for the Xbox360 and since it’s vinyl it wipes right off. it adds a bit of character as well, instead of just plain white it’s got some color now.
Conclusion:
If you’re looking for a way to personalize your Xbox360 and make it stand out from others then getting a skin from MusicSkins is the way to go. You can select from the hundreds of designs they have or even use their custom creator and create your own. You could get it with the Xbox360 logo on it, or whatever else you wanted.
The skins though are very well made, they’re thick and durable. You can also take them off if you wanted and re-apply them later.
The skins do however require a lot of patience to get them on correctly, and if you’re not careful you can stretch them out and make fitting even harder.
So if you want your own just hop on over to MusicSkins and pick what you want, more than one if you want really. The discount code is thankyou and it gives you 20% off. All you have to do is add things to your cart and then at checkout there’s a space to enter the code, the 20% will be taken of automatically for you.
