Earlier tonight, Microsoft kicked off the Tokyo Game Show with their traditional press briefing. While we weren’t there to experience it live, we were sure to jot down the important points, including a large number of game announcements:

  • Metal Gear Solid: Rising – to feature “Live cutting,” the title is progressing “on schedule,” but still no release date.
  • Xbox 360 is the #1 selling console in North America for the 3rd month in the row, as well as the #1 console in Europe.
  • Japanese games sales have topped $2.1 billion dollars for the Xbox 360
  • Halo: Reach generated over $200 million in Day-One sales.
  • Several new partnerships between Japanese creators and Microsoft Games Studios announced:
    *Spike – Fire Pro-Wrestling (avatar based wrestling game)
    *Treasure – Radiant Silvergun (Spring 2011 exclusive)
    *Matsuura – Haunt (Horror game) – for Kinect
    *Yukio Futatsugi – Project Draco (developer of Phantom Dust) – for Kinect
    *Grasshopper – SUDA 51 – for Kinect, as well as a new project called “Codename D”
  • “Dr. Kawashima’s Body and Brain Exercises” to be released for Kinect
  • New trailer for Child of Eden show – Kinect title (still no release date)
  • SEGA – Rise of Nightmares – upcoming Kinect title
  • Capcom and From Software– Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor – for Kinect (Who remembers that massive controller?)
