Today, Twisted Pixel Games, the creators of many hit Xbox Live Arcade games including The Maw, Splosion Man, Comic Jumper, and the upcoming Ms. Splosion Man have proudly announced that they are currently working on a title exclusively on Kinect for Xbox 360. The game will be called The Gunstringer. In The Gunstringer, you use your hands to marionette an undead cowboy puppet through a wild adventure full of action and drama.
The story will take cues from classic spaghetti westerns with many surprise twists in between. There will be many crazy characters and settings throughout the story.
As for the gameplay, you will be controlling the Gunstringer in a full 3D environment and shooting foes in similar ways to games like Rez. You’ll be navigating rocky terrain in one level and in the next you are ducking behind cover shooting foes.
The Gunstringer’s lead designer Dan Tesdale states that this is unlike any Kinect game you have played before. “There are no minigames, forced gestures, or end of level photos of you in your underwear here. You can play it sitting down, which is great if you just want to play and relax rather than burn crazy calories. Most importantly, you can aim and move with precision not seen in any of the Kinect launch titles, and with a speed and feel that’s just not possible with a traditional controller.” That’s a pretty powerful statement and it looks like this game can really show what makes Kinect unique as well as be a game that anyone can enjoy from the most hardcore gamer to the casual gamers and families Microsoft lured in this past holiday season.
No release date has yet been announced for The Gunstringer and it is not yet been confirmed whether this game will be an Xbox Live Arcade game or retail title.
