Contest: Halo 3 Model iPhone app

January 29th, 2010 Christian Hughes 2 comments

Wednesday, after much anticipation, @Zaam released his first iPhone app. This first app is based off of one of his web apps that lets you choose different armor and color combinations for your Halo 3 character, be it Spartan or Elite. You can find a link to download the app from Zaam’s new site, and check out his future releases there as well.

The app is very fun to just try and see how different armor types would look with one or another. Plus it gives you all of the color choices from the actual Halo 3 game. So, if you’re thinking of trying out a new combination of armors and colors you can now do it without wasting time turning on your 360 and loading up the game.

We have three codes to giveaway. One will be given away on here, one at Mobility Digest, and the third will be randomly awarded to a Twitter user (see below).

Here are the rules:

  • Contest ends on Friday, February 5.
  • You can enter via all 3 methods (mentioned above).
  • On Twitter, you can enter once each day until the end date.
  • How to enter on the websites: all you have to do is post a comment with a reason of why you want the app, or with a comment about why you visit the sites.
  • To enter on Twitter just retweet this message:

Win the new “Halo3 Model” iPhone app from @Zaam! RT and follow @Xbox360Digest to win! http://tr.im/Halo3ModelContest #Zaam

New DLC for Halo Wars

July 14th, 2009 Christian Hughes No comments

Hw The new DLC pack will be called Historic Battles and will be released on July 21st for 800 MS points. Historic Battles will feature four new maps and four new achievements.

Here is a preview of the new maps:

  • Barrens (1v1 Map): Difficult terrain channels units into killing zones. The side that controls the Forerunner artifacts will have the advantage.
  • Blood River (1v1 Map): Secure base locations on nearby cliffs overlook this naturally red-tinged river. The soldiers that fought over its two narrow crossings gave the river its name, which has since taken on a greater meaning.
  • Glacial Ravine (3v3 Map): A snow-topped mountain range forms a natural barrier that cuts this region in half. Control of the two energy walls at the narrow central pass often determines the outcome of the battle, though clever use of the Sentinel Factories may play a role as well.
  • Memorial Basin (2v2 Map): The high ground in the middle offers good cover for infantry, while the generally open terrain transforms organized battle plans into bloodbaths.

The four new achievements are worth a total of 100 points:

  • Tour Coming Through: Hot drop 50 squads to your Covenant Leader in a single game on Memorial Basin (30 points)
  • Never Leave a Man Behind: Finish a game with 5000 net resources contributed to your teammates on Barrens (15 points)
  • Drain Cleaner: Kill 20 enemy squads with a continuous Covenant Leader Power on Memorial Basin (30 points)
  • Killjoy: Disrupt 5 active Leader Powers in a single game on Blood River (25 points)

Breeding Brilliant!

July 9th, 2009 Christian Hughes No comments

alienbreedlogo_copy Team17 returns to it’s roots with a stunning remake of Alien Breed.
Team17 are absolutely delighted to formally confirm the return of one of it’s most cherished properties in ALIEN BREED EVOLUTION.
The Unreal3 powered next-gen title, part of Team17’s quality, independent digital line-up is a drop-dead gorgeous “retro-modern” remake of the game that helped Team17 burst onto the Amiga scene 18years ago.
Featuring an action packed, tense single player adventure and an absolute blast of a co-op game, Alien Breed Evolution helps raise the production bar on download-only titles and underlines Team17’s re-energised momentum since deciding to become an independent publisher in the digital distribution era.
Video footage, more shots, details and platform confirmations will be forthcoming later in the summer.

Bungie Day! Recon, Maps, and Video!

July 7th, 2009 Christian Hughes No comments

Happy Bungie Day to all, Have you got your recon? Did you see the new maps? Are you watching your Halo 3 kills on your computer yet?

Recon!

Today is a very special day for all of you Bungie/Halo buffs out there, why? Because if you have every DLC up to date you get the chance to play in the Bungie vs The World playlist and I’m wishing all of our readers good luck with that quest, here are the latest standings in the Bungie vs The World playlist:

Current Carnage
Bungie (Us) – 33
World (You) – 40
Ties – 6

(Let’s see 40 teams of 4 that’s 160 people that have won recon, if they’re giving recon to the 6 teams that tied that total goes up to 184 lucky gamers. I’d like to say congrats to those that are getting the recons.)

But wait, what about those of us stuck at work or that don’t have the reguired DLC can we still get recon? At the time of this writing you’d be about an hour or two late. But for those that visited Bungie.net earlier today you had a chance of winning recon by solving a (hard) puzzle.

After the break New Maps, and Bungie Pro Video!
