Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer revealed

September 1st, 20102010-09-02T03:09:18ZF jS, Y Patrick Kortendick 1 comment

At an invite-only event in Los Angeles this evening, select members of the gaming industry were invited to a preview of the new multiplayer in Call of Duty: Black Ops. The above trailer was unveiled tonight, showing off new game modes and features to be included in the game. In addition to new killstreaks, Black Ops will also include a new progress system, doing away with leveling all together. Rather than unlocking a gun at a specific level, you will now earn “COD Points” to spend on new weapons of your choice. Additionally, a new game mode will also allow you to wager your COD Points against other players online.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Hardened Edition lists the Zombie mode making a return to the series.  A favorite from Call of Duty: World at War, I’m sure many of you are eager to go Zombie hunting once again.  Will they be replacing Zombie Nazi’s with Zombie… Charlie’s?

Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition Announced

August 12th, 20102010-08-12T20:00:26ZF jS, Y Nick Kortendick No comments

Just like in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the Prestige Edition for Call of Duty: Black Ops contains another gimmicky item that you want, but will never pay for. For what appears to be $149.99, you can get the game and a RC car that streams color video straight to you. Those night vision goggles of last year stand no chance against an army of these babies. As an added bonus, a special avatar costume is included and some other goodies. See the full PR after the break.

Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty 8

Gled Schofield, Co-Founder of Sledgehammer Games, recently dropped this post on his twitter account:

Working w/ military guys- their stories will blow you away. Names/locations will change but some situations going in the game- real stuff!”

This new Call of Duty is set to be an action-adventure FPS, a deviation from the current offerings.  The fact that they’re working with current military members should automatically rule out the proposed Future and Space Warfare reported a while back.  However, it could still be labeled Advanced Warfare.  Details are still murky, but with this latest news to come out, some possible near future previews could be in store.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer Teaser

August 9th, 20102010-08-09T21:13:33ZF jS, Y Cody Sanchez No comments

Finally revealed today was the first footage of Call of Duty: Black Ops. From the looks of it, there’s remote-detonated RC Cars, shootable throwing knives, and… saved replay and screenshot functions! Looks great already, wouldn’t you think? I already know I’m going to spam the RC car as much as possible!

COD: Black Ops Subscription Rumors Dispelled

July 19th, 20102010-07-20T00:00:00ZF jS, Y Allen Kim 5 comments

Josh_Olin

Josh Olin of Treyarch has officially put to rest the rumor that COD: Black Ops will have a pay to play online subscription model.  So for those of you fearing that Activision’s CEO, Bobby Kotick, would be implementing his very publicized desire for such a plan, you can now rest easy.

No, you will not have to ‘Pay to Play’ #CODBlackOps Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed.

- Josh Olin

Robert Bowling has also reiterated that this is just a rumor and nothing more.

Modern Warfare 2 subscription plan rumors going around. For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they.

Activision’s COD and Microsoft Exclusive Partnership

June 14th, 20102010-06-15T02:00:00ZF jS, Y Allen Kim No comments

It looks like the recent trend of Xbox getting first dibs on Call of Duty DLC will continue all the way through 2012.  Activision reached an agreement with Microsoft for exclusive timed releases.  With the success of the CoD:MW2 DLC map packs this was to be expected.  Look to see the first CoD: Black Ops DLC released through Xbox Live first.

Crackdown 2 Introduction Video

June 7th, 20102010-06-07T06:51:00ZF jS, Y Christian Davis No comments

The new Crackdown, is bigger, badder, bloodier, and will be 10 times as fun, agent.

Pacific City is in some real big trouble. Katalina Thorne and her terrorist group known as Cell has created a new strain of the Freak Virus and is using it to cause havoc in the once safe Pacific City. These Freaks are running wild; killing everyone and everything. The Peacekeepers are having an extremely hard time keeping the Freaks at bay with the lack of Agents to help them. The city was still recovering after the gang outbreak and this was definitely the worst time for this to happen.

Here’s the Introduction video to Ruffian Games’ highly anticipated game, Crackdown 2.
