Microsoft and Ruffian Games has officially announced the release date for Crackdown 2 to fall on July 6th. So prepare yourself in the coming months to return to Pacific City. A demo will drop sometime before then to give you a taste of what to expect.
With today’s Microsoft X10 Event, the gaming community received word on some of the most anticipated games of the upcoming months. Information on highly awaited sequels such as Halo: Reach and Dead Rising 2 were revealed, along with newcomers such as Alan Wake, and even a glimpse at the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2: The Parish DLC. Xbox announced a few games today at their X10 event, see the full press release after the break as well as a few more pictures. We can also expect Final Fantasy and it’s Special Edition Console to be released on March 9 for $400. Other games announced at X10 include Fable III, the CES newly-announced Game Room, Halo: Reach, and the Xbox exclusive Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack.

Start saving your money cause ’10 is looking to be heating up already. Sequels seem to be the theme for next year but, I’m ready for some Batman: Arkham Asylum 2. If they drop a collector’s edition, I can’t wait to see what they throw in. I vote for a rappelling gun. Remember how excited you were to get the beta for Halo? 60 bucks to play the online multiplayer for the most anticipated game of the year? Easy decision. Oh yeah, it also came with a game. Many gamers were pleasantly surprised with what seemed like a side note to the real reason they bought the disc. Crackdown turned out to be a diamond in the rough. A diamond that could bench press a truck, kick a gangster across a city block, and jump off a 10 story building just to dent the asphalt below. Amidst a slew of Halo related announcements is the perfect place to announce Crackdown2. There have long been rumors of Crackdown 2, but with Realtime Worlds working on All Points Bulletin it seemed as though a sequel would only ever be rumors. Crackdown 2 is being developed by Ruffian Games (www.rufiangames.com), which is made up of many former Realtime Worlds developers who worked on the first game.
