Less than a week away from release, Bioware has released this trailer detailing the upcoming Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC. Other than what looks to be a promising story with plenty of action, we get a brief glimpse at a new vehicle that we’ll get the opportunity to pilot.
Bioware continues its strong support for Mass Effect 2 with yet another DLC. This time you’ll have the opportunity to potentially confront and discover the identity of a figure more slippery than the “Illusive Man”.
Liara T’Soni is tracking down the mysterious Shadow Broker, and no one is safe. She’ll do anything to recover the man the Broker kidnapped… and the Shadow Broker’s agents will do anything to stop her. Team up with Liara and chase clues from the luxurious heights of Illium to the Shadow Broker’s own secret lair. This DLC adds the Shadow Broker intel center, new research, and five new achievements – and the chance to continue a relationship with Liara.
The Lair of the Shadowbroker will be released on September 7th. It will cost 800 MS Points.
Bioware continues to churn out DLC for Mass Effect 2. The newest DLC, titled Lair of the Shadow Broker, will team you up with former squadmate, Liara T’Soni, as she looks to take revenge on the mysterious Shadow Broker.
Two years ago, Commander Shepard died and Liara T’Soni fought in a desperate struggle against the Shadow Broker to recover her former Commander. Now that Shepard is back, it’s time to even the score.
Team up with Liara and confront the mysterious and sinister Shadow Broker in the latest expansion to Mass Effect 2, coming soon!
Bioware continues to stream paid DLC through the Cerberus Network. The new Aegis Pack comes in at 160 MS Points ($2) and certainly looks like it is worth every penny. I’ll make sure to add it to my download queue the next time I dust off Mass Effect 2.
The Aegis Pack — for those times when overkill doesn’t seem like enough.
A job posting over at Bioware Montreal lists Multiplayer Programmer for the Mass Effect franchise. While there has been no official announcement, this all but confirms it. The listing leaves little to interpretation and opens the door to rampant speculation over how Bioware will handle this aspect of the next Mass Effect game. With their track record, one should expect nothing less than a fluid transition to multiplayer.
While co-op is the next logical step for the game (even though they’ll get plenty gripes about it no longer being an RPG), what about battling each other online? Imagine being able to fight one another as Humans, Asari, and the multitude of other races in the Mass Effect universe?
Legendary Pictures has picked up the rights to produce a Mass Effect film. Mark Protosevich, who penned “I Am Legend” and “Thor”, has been tapped to write the script. No director has been attached yet, as it is still in the very early stages of development. Good actors aren’t hard to come by, but a good director is. I pray they realize this and find a suitable candidate to take this project on.
Bioware’s very own Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuk, and Casey Hudson will all serve as executive producers for the film. While having them on board for the film will help to alleviate some of the fears behind this game-to-movie adaptation, it doesn’t quell them. Games adapted into Films have a notorious history of flops. Hopefully this will buck the trend as a rich world and story are already in tact.
“At BioWare, we’ve always thought of Mass Effect as having the depth, emotion and plot twists perfectly suited for an adaptation to a motion picture. With Legendary and Avi and Ari Arad attached, we believe that the Mass Effect movie will be an extraordinary entertainment event that realizes our vision for the franchise and thrills fans.”
It looks like Bioware is tired of giving away free stuff. The next scheduled DLC titled Overlord, will be priced at 560 MS Points. Set to release next month, it will have 5 all new missions and 2 achievements.
So the wait is finally over. First revealed last week, Bioware teased an upcoming announcement involving both the Mass Effect and Dragon Age community. It was dubbed an “Epic Bioware Community Event.” There was a slight delay as their servers crashed due to the overwhelming amount of page views in anticipation of said event.
This popped up on the Mass Effect website the other day. A similar counter also appeared on the Dragon Age site too. An announcement for some new DLC? Mass Effect 3? Well there are 5 days left to find out!
Bioware announced a new expansion for Mass Effect 2 due in “early April” for 560 MSP. Called Kasumi – Stolen Memory, Bioware says:
“Cerberus has procured the service of Kasumi Goto, the galaxy’s most enigmatic master thief. In return for her help, Kasumi has asked Shepard’s help on a dangerous heist to infiltrate the vault of a deadly master criminal named Donovan Hock. Gain Kasumi’s loyalty on the planet Bekenstein, where Hock is throwing a party for some of the galaxy’s richest and most deranged criminal minds to recover data of great importance to Kasumi… and to the galaxy at large. Includes a new squad member, mission, weapon, research upgrade, casual outfit, and achievement.”
