We all knew it would have to happen eventually, right?  Well, it’s been made official by Kojima himself at the Microsoft E3 Press Conference.  Kojima announced today, that the newest installment the franchise is currently being developed for the XBOX.

It may be a little dissapointing to some that while XBOX is finally getting a piece of one of the most successfull franchises in history, it doesn’t sound like it will be coming with the main character.  When Kojima was asked about Solid Snake, he replied “I didn’t say anything about Solid Snake.”  The  comment was followed by a brief introductory trailer composed of still images and finishing with an image of Raiden, the character made popular in Metal Gear Solid 2.

Metal Gear Solid Rising was announced during the “exclusive” portion of the press conference, but there was no mention of exclusivity.  It would be hard to imagine that the game would be exclusive to XBOX, but if it is, we’ll take it.  There were no dates mentioned, or anything else of note for that matter. But, we’ll be waiting with open arms when any more information is given. And, of course you can find that right here at XBOX360Digest as soon as it’s available!
