A whopping eleven singles come to Rock Band 3 today, along with a Christmas song from John & Yoko, The Plastic Ono Band. If Santa’s bringing you Rock Band 3 on Saturday, you’ll be seeing these songs waiting for you to download.

Just in time for Christmas (Yes, there’s a lot of Christmas related things today.), a KISS-mas Track Pack arrives by surprise this morning. I can confirm this, since I’m at the Marketplace right now, and it’s 2AM in the morning! I promise, that’s the only KISS pun you’ll see here. Seriously.

Dance Central

Three new dance routines arrive to Dance Central next week, bringing the total DLC count for Dance Central to… 9! We’re up to almost a third of the game’s on-disc song listing, it seems.

• Janet Jackson – “Control”

You can the songs for 240 Microsoft Points each.

Each song has their own unique dance routines as well. You won’t be dancing to recycled moves from previous songs!

DJ Hero 2

Today, a Linkin Park 3 pack of songs arrives, with a guest remix by Diplo and two remixes by Freestyle Games. Personally, this is the first time I’ve wanted to ever have the option purchase individual songs instead of a track pack. Pts.of.Athrty is the only song here that interests me. Might (well, probably) be different for others, though! We’ve even been supplied a nice little trailer for these remixes!

THQ recently launched a brand new service for its popular wrestling franchise, Smackdown Vs RAW called The Fan Axxess. Currently available for 800 Microsoft points in the Game Marketplace, Fan Axxess offers users access to unique content before public release, in-game unlockables and deals on future DLC. Players can also purchase the DLC featured below separately, once released.

The first downloadable content package for Fan Axxess, currently scheduled for release this holiday season will include alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars Shawn Michaels and Shad, The NXT Arena and playable versions of WWE Legends British Bulldog, Lex Luger; NXT Season 1 winner and Nexus Leader Wade Barrett, NXT Season 1 Runner ups and Nexus Members David Otunga and Justin Gabriel, along with former WWE Women’s Champion Layla.

The second downloadable content package for Fan Axxess, currently scheduled for release in early 2011 shall feature alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars John Cena, CM Punk and Undertaker; along with a playable WCW arena. Also featured in the Fan Axxess package is a new feature called the WWE Superstar Attribute Customizer, which allows players to edit the overall rankings and attribute levels of every WWE Legend, WWE Superstar and WWE Diva in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011.

EA SPORTS has unveiled its latest demo for the most internationally played and recognised sport in the world; FIFA Soccer 2011. This time around, FIFA 11 will be localized into 18 languages and available in 51 countries, led by the 28-year-old Brazilian and Midfielder for Real Madird, Kaka. With 2 FIFA World Cup titles, 5 Champions League Titles, 32 National championships and 1 European title, EA SPORTS presents the strongest team of cover athletes it has ever assembled for its FIFA Soccer franchise.

In the demo, fans will get the opportunity to play as current Premier League Champions; Chelsea, La Liga Champions Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and Olympique Lyonnais. While fans get to play with some of the biggest teams in the world, they shall also get to experience the new Personality+ added by EA, to create player authenticity–on and off the ball. Individual abilities are now reflected in-game, allowing clear differentiation for every player on the pitch. Finally, fans will also get to experience true freedom in man-to-man interactions with 360° Fight for Possession that transforms physical play from lateral jostling to full 360° collisions and new Pro Passing, where pass accuracy is determined by a players’s ability on the control pad and player skill, situation and urgency on the pitch.

2K Games has announced that its up-coming DLC package for Mafia II, titled Jimmy’s Vendetta shall be coming out on September 7^th and available for players worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points.

Jimmy’s Vendetta shall take players into an alternative perspective of the mob through the eyes of Jimmy; the guy the other guys call upon when they need to finish a job. Players shall be getting their hands dirty helping Jimmy clean up other people’s messes, whilst dealing with Italian and Irish members. As the players progress, various new side quests are unlocked including assassinations and vehicle pursuits. Well timed shots and point for precision-timed power slides help increases your online score and allows you to show everyone who is top dog in the new online leader board system.

Earlier this week, Electronic Arts and Hothead Games made a surprising announcement revealing that there will be a follow up to the vastly popular Hack and Slash RPG DeathSpank; titled DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue. Thongs of Virtue will center around DeathSpank’s journeys through a massive war-torn land, explore the North Pole and the high seas to locate six mystical thongs to bring peace and harmony to the universe. DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue (T.O.V.) will be available for download on September 22^nd for 1200 Microsoft Points.

Vlad Ceraldi, Director of Game Development for Hothead Games stated “Bigger, longer, harder, these were the words that drove us while we created the follow up to our introduction to the DeathSpank universe. In T.O.V., we’re taking action RPG fundamentals and adding loads of new creatures, environments, weapons and characters, while continuing to push the envelope with our signature humour.”

Alan Wake fans will be happy as the first DLC package entitled “The Signal” has finally been released for 560 Microsoft points (Free for people who brought there game first hand). The download content to adds a brand new episode to the game, however lets see what the official DLC description says:

“In this first Add-on pack for Alan Wake we find Wake facing a threat unlike anything he’s ever encountered before — and yet one he’s intimately familiar with. In order to make sense of it all, he must follow the Signal”

As stated above, the DLC is absolutely free and is a mere 48MB. Remedy Entertainment, the fantastic guys behind Alan Wake have already confirmed that there will be a second add on package coming to Xbox Live Marketplace as well. While there is no confirmed release date, it has been titled “The Writer” and will cost 560 Microsoft points.

Normally when a company restricts access for developers, it is seen as a negative.  While Microsoft is taking this approach for their mobile gaming platform on the new Windows Phone 7, it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Anyone can develop any title they wish using the Windows Phone Developer Tools; there’s no obligation or requirement to use Xbox LIVE or other services in those titles. However, titles wishing to use Xbox LIVE services must have a relationship with Microsoft; if you’re interested in being considered for our portfolio (and use of Xbox LIVE services), you can mail wpgames@microsoft.com. I believe that this can only benefit the consumer in the end.  If these types of regulations aren’t in place, the marketplace will be flooded with unpolished and uninspired apps/games (see: Apple’s App Store).  This way it weeds out the bad games and keeps only the best of the best available to the masses.

This system actually mirrors the way they handle games on the Xbox 360 Live platform.  Xbox Live Arcade titles usually have a level of polish superior to those out under the Indie games section.  This isn’t saying that the Indie games are poor, far from it.  It’s just that when you have a professional studio of developers working on a title, compared to a small team, the results can have immense differences on the final product.  Having a managed portfolio just makes sense.

Something most everyone should love, a Phoenix track pack will be available to all next Thursday, with two songs from their latest album, “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,” along with one from their 2004 album “Alphabetical.” If you don’t like at least 1901, I will hurt you. Badly.
