“To create the best and most authentic FIFA game ever, we needed new technology to deliver on our vision. Fans will see, and more importantly feel, the significance of the Player Impact Engine immediately. The transformation FIFA Soccer 12 has undergone is revolutionary not evolutionary,” said Kaz Makita, Executive Producer for the FIFA franchise, which has won 136 videogame awards the past three years. “To create the best and most authentic FIFA game ever, we needed new technology to deliver on our vision. Fans will see, and more importantly feel, the significance of the Player Impact Engine immediately.”

The game-changing new Player Impact Engine will drive FIFA Soccer 12 Xbox 360. Fans will experience the way real-world players challenge each other for the ball, win possession, and test each other physically. The Impact Engine processes decisions continuously in real-time at every point of contact on a player’s body to create an infinite variety of natural and believable outcomes in every collision. Players now feel more resilient, push and pull during the fight for possession, and recover from light challenges more easily.

To see the player impact engine in action, view the trailer below.

Do you know:
1. What was the first game in the franchise was almost called instead of Duke Nukem?

2. Who is the only person to be involved in all Duke Nukem projects?

3. Who was the first voice of Duke Nukem?

4. How many times I have bolded and italicized the words Duke Nukem in this post?

A new beginning will be born in the Tomb Raider franchise. But this isn’t just the next chapter in the series, you should probably forget everything you ever known about Tomb Raider. Crystal Dynamics released Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light earlier this year for the XBLA, and it was a refreshing experience that also took us back to a more classic take on the franchise.

I thought it was a unique experience, and I also enjoyed Tomb Raider: Underworld which was released as a full retail release but I also thought that a full reboot of the franchise was completely necessary. This new game is simply titled “Tomb Raider” the theme seems to be a more mature, a more realistic, and more about the origins of Tomb Raider.

“Drastic measures were needed. To build an entirely fresh Lara – a culturally relevant hero worth of the attention that once came so effortlessly – they must break her first. In this new adventure – simply titled Tomb Raider – a younger and inexperienced Lara Croft must endure both physical and emotional trauma to survive”

“I think that the major difference between this game and the old is the concept of smoke and mirrors,” begins Darrell Gallagher, the studio head at Crystal Dynamics. “There was an illusion of freedom because of streaming and loading that would pop you out in a different location, but this is absolutely real. You can literally go any direction that you see and carve your own way to the finish line instead of being guided”

“It was important in the game to not only deliver the character arc of Lara Croft emotionally, but to deliver it in gameplay as well so the player gets to grow into a hardened survivor,” says experienced director Noah Hughes”

As the game unfolds, Lara will scavenge new tools and gear that augment her abilities. Lara’s athletic prowess will also evolve. Some areas begin inaccessible due to physical limitations or scarce supplies. With the right skills and gear, however, the island is Lara’s for the taking.

‘After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive’

“Crystal Dynamics”

Square promises the game will make us “forget everything” we know about Lara Croft, as we see her “young and inexperienced” in a “journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.”

Lara is 21 in this game

They’re doing performance capturing with this game

There are brutal deaths in the game this time. One is described as a deranged man stabbing Lara in the chest and then closing her eyes after she’s dead. Another includes a boulder falling on her leg to trap her before another falls and crushes her head.

CD won’t talk specifics on weapons but concept art shows a bow, shotgun and pistol.

The lock on targeting system is gone and it now has a free aim system. CD says that it can compete with any of their competitors.

There are base camps in the game. Here you can combine items to create something new and access a skill system to upgrade Lara’s abilities. You’ll also be able to use base camps to fast travel to different locations to minimize backtracking.

You’ll need to gather food and water in order to survive

There are humans in the game, including some of the crew members from the shipwreck off the coast of the island.

The full reveal gets featured in the next Game Informer issue.

Full PR below.

Here begins the first adventure for a young and inexperienced Lara Croft in a story which charts the journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.

“Forget everything you knew about TOMB RAIDER, we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game,” said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics. “This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”

TOMB RAIDER makes its worldwide debut in the January issue of Game Informer® magazine.
Shown last night on Spike TV, Ms. Splosion Man has been announced. The sequel to the popular Splosion Man, the game features all new levels, locations, and more. With the 75% discount on Spolsion Man last week, it seemed only fitting that Twisted Pixel announce Ms. Spolsion Man while the series was in the spotlight.

In regards to the newly titled game, Twisted Pixel CCO Josh Bear told Joystiq,

"We could have churned out new levels [for Splosion Man], but we wouldn’t have had the time to add in new gameplay puzzles or cool new character stuff. But we didn’t just want to do Splosion Man 2, it had to be something a little more interesting. That is why we decided to do MSM."

Ms. Splosion Man is expected to release in the Fall of 2011

BIG SCIENCE CAPTURES SPLOSION MAN, WORLD NOW SAFE FOREVER
Twisted Pixel Games Proud to Announce the World Won’t End in the Fall of 2011

AUSTIN, TX – December 2, 2010 – Twisted Pixel Games was pleased to announce today that their subsidiary, Big Science, has captured the Splosion Man and guaranteed the safety of all humankind. Many remember the terrifying events of July 2009: Splosion Man’s horrifying rampage through Big Science laboratories that meated hundreds of scientists and caused untold damage to their underground laboratories. Eye witnesses reported widespread destruction and a staggering number of t-bones and fillets left in his wake.

Today that ends, with Twisted Pixel releasing footage of the successful capture of the renegade experiment. The scientists speak with new-found confidence about their success. Says Dr. Wilson, "Even if some sort of newer, stronger, better threat were created, our newest security measures and fiendish traps would be more than enough to contain it. We’ve made incredible advances in our technology over this past year…. Not that there would ever be a use for any of it."

Dr. Henry was quick to add, "Our lab, our equipment – everything has had functionality improvements and visual overhauls, and our company has expanded to some incredible new locations. It’s all pristine and beautiful – decadent environments that we are very happy no experiment gone wrong will ever rampage through." Dr. Henry paused briefly before continuing, "I don’t even know why I’m mentioning that, because it’s 100% guaranteed that Splosion Man will never be a threat to us again."

When asked if there was any risk of overconfidence amongst the scientists, Dr. Riley was quick to interject. "Why? What’s going to happen, some sort of freak accident in the after party that creates a "Ms. Splosion Man" mere seconds after Splosion Man’s capture? And then the Ms. Splosion Man goes on some monster tear in the fall of 2011? Yeah right. Not very likely."Twisted Pixel Games reiterates that despite the fact that nothing could possibly go wrong during today’s events, should any newsworthy event occur, they will release as much information as possible in the coming months.

WHO IS HUMANITY’S TRUE ENEMY?

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (December 1, 2010) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® America, Inc. are pleased to announce Binary Domain™, an original squad-based shooter by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator behind some of SEGA’s most well-known video game franchises, including the critically acclaimed Yakuza series. Binary Domain puts players in the middle of a fast-paced and intense battle for humanity in robot-invaded 2080 Tokyo. Fighting through the derelict lower levels of the city, players control an international peace-keeping squad that soon starts to question their surroundings and the choices they are making. Are the robots becoming more human, or are humans becoming more like machines?

“What I wanted to create this time was a dramatic and energetic sci-fi shooter. When you hear sci-fi you may think of cold, clinical environments but with Binary Domain I wanted to combine this with a deep human drama,” commented Toshihiro Nagoshi. “The keyword we have in mind for this project is ’Life’. I wanted to make something that will be accepted by both the Japanese and Western markets, and this fundamental theme is something everyone knows but which the full extent of can be difficult to grasp.”

Binary Domain’s central theme of life is also key to the way the innovative AI system is being developed. The highly advanced AI will make the battlefield a more compelling experience than ever before, and players will have to plan their moves strategically and carefully in order to progress through the hostile environments of the game.
